This is a formal undergraduate degree awarded by BITS Pilani, an Institution of Eminence, a status bestowed by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.  Also, as per Clause 22 of the UGC (ODL & Online Programmes) Regulations, 2020, degrees awarded by recognized institutions through online mode are considered equivalent to degrees offered through the conventional mode.

This makes the degree eligible for consideration by universities in India and abroad when applying for Master’s or other higher education programmes. The 4-year B.S. programme is particularly suited for students aspiring to pursue postgraduate studies internationally, as many global universities require a 4-year undergraduate qualification.

However, please note that final admission decisions and eligibility criteria are determined by individual universities and institutions. Students are advised to review the specific requirements of the institutions they plan to apply to.

• Trimester-end exams are conducted only on weekends (Fridays to Sundays), and for each exam, you’ll have two scheduling options, helping you minimise clashes with your on-campus academic calendar.

Yes, absolutely. The programme is designed with multiple exit options to ensure that your academic progress is recognised meaningfully — even if you don’t complete the full 4 year degree.

• After completing the credit/unit requirements of 1 year, you can exit with a Certificate in Data Science & AI.
• After completing the credit/unit requirements of 2 years, you can exit with a Diploma in Data Science & AI.
• After completing the credit requirements of 3 years, you can exit with a B.Sc. Degree in Data Science & AI.
• After completing all 4 years, you earn the full B.S. Degree in Data Science & AI.

Yes, you can. The programme is designed to offer flexibility that fits your pace and priorities. While there is a recommended number of courses per trimester to help you complete the degree on time, you are free to take fewer courses in any given trimester if you need to manage other academic, personal, or professional commitments.  This allows you to customise your learning journey based on your capacity and goals. Whether you want to slow down during a particularly busy period or spread out your workload more comfortably, the structure of the programme supports you in doing so  without any academic penalty

Yes, absolutely. The programme offers the flexibility to take a break for one or more trimesters if you need to pause your studies due to personal, academic, or professional reasons. This ensures that your progress is not lost, and you can return when you're ready.
That said, here are a few important things to note:

• A break can only be taken before the start of a trimester. Once a trimester begins and you've accessed classes or learning materials, a break is no longer permitted for that term.
• When you resume the programme after a break, you will be required to pay a continuity fee for each trimester of break, in addition to the regular trimester fee for the trimester you register for.

This structure allows you to manage your learning journey on your own terms, while ensuring a smooth and supported return to the programme whenever you're ready to continue.

You are allowed a maximum of 8 years to complete the full 4-year B.S. Degree in Data Science & AI. This generous timeframe is designed to give you the flexibility to balance your studies with other academic, professional, or personal commitments.
Within this 8-year window, you may choose to take fewer courses in a trimester, take approved breaks between trimesters, or adjust your pace — as long as you meet all academic requirements and credit obligations within the permitted duration.

If you opt to exit earlier with an interim credential, you have up to double the normal duration to complete each stage:

• The 1-year Certificate can be completed in up to 2 years
• The 2-year Diploma can be completed in up to 4 years
• The 3-year B.Sc. Degree can be completed in up to 6 years

There are no additional fee implications for progressing at a slower pace. The programme follows a trimester-based fee model — meaning the trimester fee remains the same regardless of the number of courses you choose to register for in that term. The only additional charge is a continuity fee, which applies only if you take a full break for one or more trimesters. This fee is paid at the time of resuming the programme.

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following requirements:

Educational Background:
You should have completed Class 12 or equivalent in any stream, or hold a government-recognised Post-Class 10 Technical Diploma.

Maths/Statistics Requirement:
You must have scored at least 60% marks in Mathematics or Statistics in your Class 12 exams or in your Technical Diploma.

For those who do not meet the Maths Criteria:
No worries! You still have multiple options as given below to qualify:

• Take and successfully complete BITS Pilani’s preparatory Math course
• Clear an online Math Eligibility Test (up to 2 attempts)
• Submit proof of current enrolment in a STEM undergraduate degree
• Show proof of having qualified JEE Advanced

While you can choose any option above, however the most recommended would be to enrol in a Preparatory Mathematics course offered by BITS Pilani, which runs for approximately 4 months. Upon successfully clearing the final exam for this course, you will become eligible for admission into the degree programme.    Provide primarily details about your educational background and personal information in the form.
2. Pay the Application Fee
   Submit a non-refundable application fee of INR 1,500 through the secure online payment gateway.
3. Upload Supporting Documents
   You’ll be asked to upload relevant documents such as your government-issued ID, Class 12 marksheet, diploma certificate (if applicable), and any other documents needed to verify your eligibility.

Once submitted, your application will be reviewed by the admissions team, and you’ll be informed about the next steps. The process is designed to be quick, smooth, and entirely online — so you can apply from wherever you are.

Once you submit your application, it will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee, which will verify your educational qualifications and review your supporting documents for completeness.

If any documents are missing or need clarification, the Admissions Cell will contact you to help resolve the issue.

If you haven’t met the Mathematics eligibility requirement, the Admissions Cell will reach out to you with details of two options:

• Enrol in the paid Preparatory Mathematics Course, or
• Take the Online Mathematics Eligibility Test (up to two attempts)

Based on your choice, they will assist you in either enrolling for the course or registering for the test.
If your application meets all eligibility criteria, you will receive an official Offer Letter along with detailed instructions to accept the offer and complete your admission by paying the one-time admission fee and the first trimester fee.
The process is designed to be smooth, transparent, and supportive — ensuring you're informed and guided at every step.

  At the beginning of each week, you’ll access high-quality video lectures and engaging digital materials developed and delivered by BITS Pilani faculty, through our advanced Digital Learning Platform.
• Get On-the-Go Support
  If you have questions, you can post them anytime to our dedicated academic helpdesk. Our experienced teaching assistants respond promptly to ensure your learning stays on track.
• Engage in Live Faculty Sessions
  At the end of each week, you’ll attend live, discussion-rich online classes, usually scheduled on weekends. These sessions allow for real-time, two-way interaction with faculty, helping you strengthen your understanding and clarify any doubts.
• Practice with Online Cloud Labs
  For lab-oriented courses, you’ll gain hands-on experience using virtual or remote labs, accessible securely from anywhere. These cloud labs simulate real-world environments, ensuring practical, application-focused learning.
• All teaching, mentoring, labs, and assessments (except end of trimester exams for students in India) are conducted entirely online.
• End of Trimester Exams: The only in-person requirement applicable for residents of India is for end of trimester examinations, which are conducted at officially designated physical exam centres identified by BITS Pilani across various cities in India.

This 3-day immersive event is designed to offer students a chance to:

Participation in the campus immersion is completely optional, and students who choose to attend will need to bear the cost of travel and accommodation.
